Producing films is a big gamble: Lakshmi Manchu

Speaking at the audio launch ceremony of 'Maranthen Mannithen' (the Tamil version of Gundello Godari), Lakshmi Manchu talked about her filmi career and interests so far.

"Acting! Your job is over by the end of the day. Producing films is a big gamble, and the odds don't favour you. But I will keep going until I fall flat on my face."

The audio launch of Maranthen Mannithen took place recently and the music has been composed by Maestro Illayaraja. Lakshmi is confident about the music and thinks I will do well in both Kollywood and Tollywood.

"I can't wait to see the kind of response the songs will have here. Five of the tracks are same in both the languages and Raja uncle has reworked on one of his old tracks from Tamil and Telugu, which will be the highlight," she added.

The actress won the Nandi Award for Best Villain for her role in Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu. Asked if she would take up a similar role again, she said "I'm the only woman to receive an award in this category till date. Many asked me to reconsider playing the evil queen in my debut film, but how many would get an opportunity to be part of Walt Disney's first production in south India? If I am asked to play a villain again, I would do it gladly!"

A complete movie is a pure team effort where in many departments struggle for day and night to come up with the best product for audience. When others steal this hardwork so easily for their simple benefits, there can’t be anything more than frustration left for original makers. Currently Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna is severely thwarted by the handy work of small tiny Tamil producers who are dubbing the Malayalam ‘Doubles’ into Tamil titled as ‘Puduvai Managaram.’

Without the knowledge and consent from Lakshmi, these Tamil producers of ‘Puduvai Managaram’ are using the stills of Tapsee from ‘gundello godaari.’ In fact, when Lakshmi is planning this flick as a bi-lingual inclusive of Tamil, this kind of creative burglary has upset the GG team. ‘I am shocked to see our Tapsee stills used on the posters of Tamil film. I will take legal action against all of them,’ said a furious Lakshmi.

The bonding between Lakshmi Manchu and Taapsee is known to all. With Manchu family's blessings Taapsee has been doing well in Tollywood. And here is another example which has displayed how Lakshmi takes her work and Taapsee seriously. It is heard that Lakshmi is planning to file a legal complaint against a producer in Kollywood.

The reason for that is, it is heard that the producer had reportedly used the stills of Taapsee for the dubbed version of his Malayalam film 'Puduvai Managaram'. The issue is, these stills belong to Lakshmi Manchu's new venture 'Gundello Godaari'. Moreover, the stills were yet to be revealed but they were used by the Tamil producer on the posters.

Lakshmi reportedly filed a complaint at the Producers Guild in Chennai and this is likely to be followed by a legal complaint. From her end, Taapsee is reportedly shocked with this incident but she has mentioned that she trusts Lakshmi completely. It is heard that Taapsee said yes to 'Gundello Godaari' without listening to the script.
